Jill
Slaymaker, a painter of fantastic and natural subjects, contrasts
warm, idyllic nature scenes with Dadaesque pictographs. These
paintings explore the relationship between nature and modern man.
The
artist's reverence for nature is particularly apparent in the
vast skies she paints, intended to bring to mind mysteries of
the unknown: death, God, the heavens, as well as a sense that
"nature is greater and more powerful than we mere humans."
