CR Laul

Paintings by CR. Laul
Opens at Gallery Juno, January 19, 2001

THIS EXHIBIT:
A collection of twenty paintings representing the artist’s recent work comprises the exhibition. Laul’s work is replete with energy, texture and movement. His inspiration lies most profoundly in nature, which serves as the foundation for the color palette, motion and sense of balance evident in his work. Deceptively simple, many of his pieces may be read as abstract landscapes; yet they also engage the willing viewer in narrative conversation and storytelling.

BIO:

CR. Laul works primarily in acrylics on canvas, though he has begun to explore the parameters of mixed-media collage in his most recent work.  A self taught artist, he approaches each painting as a design problem and perceives them as explorations in color and geometry. Laul's work, abstract and increasingly architectural, draws on his strong graphic design background.  His previous exhibits include a private exhibition at the New York offices of Brennan Beer Gorman / Architects - Brennan Beer Gorman Monk / Interiors (1999), New York Fireman's Museum, Juried Group shows (1996, 1997).  Laul is a graduate of Fordham College of Arts and Humanities, Fordham University.
