ARTIST STATEMENT

I paint because I like to - for the most part I work every morning and even if I go through a dry period, there is always a chance that something will come out of trial, error and effort.  A block comes when there are no ideas; without a developing idea a painting becomes contrived, self conscious and static, for me anyway.  Apart from the fun of painting a picture, an added kick comes from the emotional response of others.
